The novel tells about Rachel, a divorced woman who lost her job and later falls into a state of depression.

She rides the train every day on her way to London, and when the train stops at one of the stations, a couple hints at a house and forms a link for them.

However, one day, she discovers the husband's betrayal of her husband from the train window before she was surprised by her disappearance the next day through the newspapers, then she makes attempts to reveal the reason for her disappearance.
